Why is the Test Done?
This test measures the amount of folate in blood in patients suspected of folate deficiency. Folate deficiency is most commonly due to insufficient dietary intake and is most frequently encountered in pregnant women or in alcoholics, and is characterised by macrocytosis and megaloblastic anaemia.
